At Breaking Barriers with Assistive Technology, we believe every child deserves a voice — a way to be heard, understood, and valued. We are dedicated to breaking down communication barriers by providing Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices to students with communication needs in the Park Hill School District.
Communication is more than words. It’s connection, belonging, and the key to learning and relationships. Yet, for many students with complex communication needs, traditional speech isn’t an option. That’s where AAC comes in — giving children a way to express themselves, share ideas, and build meaningful connections with those around them.
Our mission is simple:
To ensure no student is left without a voice due to financial or access barriers.
We are a group of parents and teachers who have seen firsthand the power of AAC — and the challenges families and schools face in accessing it. In addition to AAC, we also support classrooms by providing other forms of assistive technology that help remove learning barriers and support inclusive education. Through community support, partnerships, and advocacy, we help schools, families, and professionals access the AAC tools and resources students need to thrive. We also work to raise awareness about the importance of communication rights and inclusion.
Because when every child is heard, every child belongs.
